Finally, we can say that Spring has arrived, and it was just in time for the Vappu celebrations.
The week began with the regular Toy Day on Monday, however, as it was such a beautiful Spring morning, we spent most of the time enjoying the sun outdoors. We then came inside to discuss the weekend’s events and the children had a short time to play with their toys and also some time to play in the Pizzeria Koti Leikki.
It was a day to celebrate Vappu on Tuesday. The morning, began with some arts and crafts. We created some nice colorful hats for our afternoon picnic using various materials to decorate them. Later on the children got dressed in their costumes and we danced for the rest of the morning in our Vappu disco. In the afternoon as the weather was so nice, we decided to go outside straight after the nap time. We continued to listen to music, played games and had a small picnic of juice and munkki. It was a very nice Vappu celebration day and thankfully we had the weather to help make it a success.
It was once again the music session for all the Maxis on Thursday morning and a table task for the other half of the morning. The children continued with the theme of emotions and had a discussion to start the session, followed by an arts and crafts activity, whereby they created an emotions bracelet.
We ended the week with some more arts and crafts. It was time to create a very special gift for some very special mothers.
The atmosphere of the day care, this week has been one of joy and happiness. We spent some lovely time outdoors enjoying the weather. It was evident that the Sun shining had lifted everyone’s mood this week. Let’s hope it continues for the weekend.

Happy May day week!
On Monday we had our usual toy day, but because of the nice weather we decided to extend the outdoor morning play and had an afternoon circle instead of the usual morning circle. We are getting better at taking care of our own toys and sharing them with our friends. Having our toys marked with our personalized stickers helps us in keeping track of our own property. Summer is slowly approaching and Aria has been taking two of us (and one maxi/midi) every morning for a short walk around the neighborhood. During the walk we learn about social behavior, including how to cross roads and what to do when we see trash where it doesn’t belong, as well as observe our environment. This week we spotted a lot of new flowers and even a bunny! Tuesday was a very exciting day for all of us as we had the May day celebrations. We started the day with a children’s disco, where we got to show off our best dance moves and our beautiful costumes. We continued the festivities in the afternoon – We ate donuts in our yard, did some face paintings, blew soap bubbles and did some more dancing. During the face painting session we got to decide which colors and shapes we wanted to practice gaining more autonomy. Oh the fun we had! The daycare was closed on Wednesday so we were extra excited to come back on Thursday for our weekly music circle. We have been practicing actively for the Spring party and are eager to show you what we have prepared. Mothers day is coming up soon, to prepare for that we read some books on mothers and different family on Friday. Repetition is key therefore, we will likely read these books again throughout the start of Mothers day week too.
We are preparing something special for Mother day and welcome all mother figures to join us for a morning brunch on Wednesday.
