VIIKKOKIRJE / WEEKLY LETTER 9/ 2021
Kapteenit jatkoivat tällä viikolla matkaansa kohti aurinkoista Australiaa. Maanantaina aloitimme koala-askartelun, jonka myötä pääsimme hiomaan hienomotorisia taitojamme sekä käden & silmän yhteistyötä. Pitkin viikkoa olemme tutustuneet myös muihin Australian eläimiin, esimerkiksi kenguruihin. Opettelimmekin aiheeseen sopivan laulun sekä tanssimme kengurutanssia. Viikolla olemme myös leikkineet monia vesileikkejä Säätytalon-puistossa. Löysimme myös loppuviikosta pihalta hienoja jääpaloja, jotka näyttivät aivan säihkyviltä timanteilta. Päätimme viikkomme Open Micin tahteihin. Tälläkin kertaa pääsimme treenaamaan esiintymistaitojamme sekä itseilmaisua, samalla musiikin riemusta nauttien. Viimeistelimme myös viime viikon Intia-askartelut, liimausharjoitusten muodossa.
Kipparit ovat kuluneella viikolla nauttineet aurinkoisista kuraleikeistä puistossa ja havainneet ensimmäisiä kevään merkkejä! Aurinko on sulattanut lumet ja paksut haalarit ovat vaihtuneet kurahousuihin ja ohuempiin vaateparsiin. Retkellä Kipparit opettelivat lähikatujen nimiä ja tutkimme mitä kaikkea mielenkiintoista läheltäkin voi löytää. Erityisesti sähkökaapeista löytyneet mustavalkoiset kuvat entisajan Krunasta kiinnostivat Kippareita ja herättivät hyvää keskustelua. Myös tiistain muskarissa opimme laulujen ja musiikin muodossa millaista elämä oli ennenvahnaan! ”Sillälailla, tällälailla ennenvahnaan miehet rakensivat taloja”. Kulttuurikeskiviikkona matkustimme jälleen uudelle mantereelle kohteenamme tällä kertaa Australia. Kipparit pääsivät harjoittelemaan saksilla leikkaamista kukin oman tasonsa mukaisesti ja paperisilpusta koostimme yhdessä liimaten Australian lipun. Katsoimme myös esittelyvideon millaiselta matkakohteessamme näyttää. Kuten arvata saattaa, Kipparien huomion kiinnittivät erityisesti pomppivat kengurut ja söpöt koalat. Torstaina vuorossa oli liikuntatuokio pienryhmissä. Kipparit harjoittelivat temppuradan muodossa erilaisia hyppyjä, tasapainoa, kuperkeikkoja, keskiviivan ylitystä jänöhypyillä sekä ryömimistä. Myös oman vuoron odottaminen, jonossa kulkeminen sekä ohjeiden kuunteleminen saivat jälleen hyvää harjoitusta. Oli hienoa huomata miten lasten motoriset taidot kehittyvät hurjaa vauhtia. Tuokion päätteeksi jokainen lapsi sai yksilöllisen kehun temppuradan onnistumisista. Päätimme viikon eläinjoogan ja kaveri- sekä tunnetaito harjoitusten parissa.
Spring is in the air and autumn is coming to the Southern Hemisphere! The adventurous and energetic Sailors set the full sail across the vast warm Indian Ocean from the unforgettable India to the biggest island country of the whole world Australia along parts of the 3 pioneering routes of the voyages of Captain James Cook’s. We fell in love with many unique and lovely animals and plants native to Australia. We played well with 4 plushie Aussie visitors a.k.a 3 kangaroos and 1 emu brought by Sailors on board and plastic toys of platypus, quokka, wombat, koala mom and joey. Each of us cut an either yellow or grey 2D cockatiel parrot and turned it into an adorable 3D bird that can be put on our finger, and we also gave them to other younger children as souvenirs of our exploration of Australia. In the Indoor Gymnastics, we friendly competed in the rugby game, and everyone had lots of fun and was in a happy mood despite of winning or losing the round to a friend. We also enjoyed the familiar Egg and Spoon Race that is popular in Brisbane. Certainly yoga movements of koala and bat were quite fun to practise together! A Sailor also kindly brought her own book of “Eläinatlas” to share with her curious fellows! We learnt from the book about biodiversity in Oceania and red kangaroos living in the Simpson Desert Australia this week and we will keep learning more with the help of the book next week! 4 Sailors’ families brought or sent us amazing videos and photos of their family vacations or relatives’ who live in Australia. With the help of those precious materials and the picture contents for our Passport, we learnt about animal preservation in sanctuaries, aboriginal people, their paintings of animals and their wisdom of respecting nature. Some of us realised for the first time that the real building of our small-scaled LEGO model of Sydney Opera House does exist by the same Harbour with the Sydney Harbour Bridge that a Sailor’s did climb to the top! We love window painting and the 2 French windows of our classroom’s are perfect canvases for us to express our creatively and imagination! We already painted together a blooming eucalyptus tree, a red mom kangaroo and her joey in the pouch, Great Barrier Reef and tropical fish. Perhaps some colourful parrot and a gentle sea turtle could also fit in the painting.
