MINIS:
We have had so much fun visiting Mexico. Minis were introduced to Mexican culture, ingluding music, animals and food. We made paperroll pinatas on Tuesday. Practising fine motor skills. Minis hide inside the pinatas some silkpaperslice and a sticker of their liking. Ewdnesday for Minis was so much fun. They got to practice their gross motor skills when they got to climb over and on top of pillow sofa mountain. And Minis were amazed when they got to create a erupting snow volcano with baking soda and vinegar. Thursday was filled with Mariachi music and Minis were celebrating fiesta by pullin open the pinatas and eating some tortillas Maxis made for us. Our trip to Etupelto play park was cancelled due to cold weather on Friday but despite weather Minis got to go outside for a short amount of time to see tractor and snow truck remove the snow from the street. Oh happy day!

MIDIT:
Midit ovat viettäneet viikkoa Meksikossa, jossa kulttuuria ja elämyksiä riittäisi koettavaksi pidemmäksikin aikaa. Askartelimme tiistaina upeat sombrerot kertakäyttölautasista sekä -mukeista. Jokainen sai maalata hattunsa oman mielen mukaan. Osa työskenteli pensselin avulla, osa halusi maalata sormin. Lapset kokeilivat kiinnostuneina mitä saa aikaan, kun eri värejä sekoittaa keskenään. Keskiviikkona vietimme leikkipäivää yhdessä Maxien ja Viskareiden kanssa ja pukeuduimme roolivaatteisiin. Pelastuspartio-leikissä harjoiteltiin yhdessä toimimista ja kaverin ottamista huomioon, kun pohdittiin, miten saadaan pelastettua kissanpentu turvaan korkeasta puusta, jonka virkaa puolapuut toimittivat. Leikkeihin rakennettiin sohvista myös suuri merirosvolaiva, jolla olemme seilanneet maailman merillä. Torstaina temppuilimme Minien puolella; tyynyistä ja patjoista sai hauskan pomppulinnan, sohvalla vuorikiipeiltiin ja tunnelin läpi ryömittiin monen monta kertaa. Pidimme myös meksikolaisen fiestan ilakoiden villisti mariachi-musiikin tahdissa ja soitellen marakasseja. Perjantaina pakkanen peruutti retkemme, mutta vietimme hauskaa leikkipäivää Minien kanssa. Kävimme happihyppelyllä omalla pihalla ja seurasimme lumikoneiden työskentelyä. Iltapäivällä teimme mielikuvitusretken talviseen metsään ja rakensimme nuotion jolla paistoimme makkaraa, nam!

MAXIT AND VISKARIT:
This week, Maxis and Viskarit travelled to Mexico on Monday, where all groups were introduced to the country’s traditions, culture, food, music, animals, and more. Besides, keeping with the musical traditions of Mexico, two women Mariachis played to the rhythm of the music with maracas and guitars. Then, the children could also do the same thing. Referring to the flag, this time, three children drew the main animals of the country’s flag: the snake and the eagle. The others completed the window decoration by shaping cactus. On Tuesday, both groups made colorful sugar skulls. With this activity, they could practice fine motor skills and scissors skills. At this moment, the kids are having a lot of ideas, and that’s why we decided to have a kids meeting (with a judge) to expose their ideas for games, projects and much more. Many ideas for new activities came out from the kids, which is very positive for their development. In the afternoon, Viskarit played at acting out characters and animals through mime, and, practiced the alphabet and vocabulary in English. In Muskari, they were able to develop their musical and creative skills. Wednesday was play and costume day. Many children brought their own costumes, and they spent the whole day playing games and developing their group and social skills. One of the ideas was to make a pirate ship, and that is what we tried to do: with two sofas, some swords, a patch and a stick with the pirate flag, the children enjoyed the game. During the next day, Maxis and Viskarit cooked Tortillas. They had a great morning preparing food from another country, and it was an ideal occasion to practice food vocabulary in English. They also spent some time at the front yard, having fun al together. They played and practiced group games that required attention, fun and patience. In the afternoon, some of the kids watched the movie Coco. On the last day of the week, the children enjoyed an obstacle course on the jungle. Within it, they were able to climb like monkeys, control their balance skills, drag like a snakes, and more. On the other hand, the kids, enjoyed a snow archeologist finding small objects or toys using brushes and magnifying glass. They had so much fun. Hasta pronto, Mexico!
VISKARIT:
Teimme tehtävän, jossa harjoiteltiin kielellisiä taitoja, tarkkaavuuden suuntaamista tehtävän kannalta olennaisiin yksityiskohtiin sekä myös itsesäätelyä. Samalla tehtävä toimi myös hyvänä harjoituksena kuvan katsomisen merkityksen luomiseksi. Lapset oppivat ohjaamaan katsettaan ja poimimaan asioita kuvasta. Teimme myös suujumppaa. Jokainen sai oman nimensä kirjaimet ja jokaisen tuli pilliä imemällä muodostaa kirjaimista oma nimi. Lopuksi pidimme höyhenten puhalluskilpailun parin kanssa. Kylläpäs oli jännittävää ja hauskaa!
