MINIT
Minien kanssa sukelsimme viikon alkajaisiksi aistien ihmeelliseen maailmaan. Uteliaat pienet tutkijat pääsivät puuhastelemaan erilaisten aisteja herättävien leikkien parissa. Tutkimme muun muassa vettä sekä sitä, miten kylmät jääkuutiot sulavat, kun ne pudottaa lämpimään veteen – kuutioiden sulaessa niiden sisältä paljastui timantteja, pikkuautoja ja pieniä poneja. Aistilaatikoiden äärellä pääsimme myös tunnustelemaan pehmeää taikahiekkaa, pom pomeja ja pumpulia sekä rypistelemään kahisevaa paperia ja muovailemaan taikataikinaa, jonka sisältä keräsimme esiin pieniä porkkanoita. Tiistaina touhusimme aamulla pitkän tovin pihalla, tällöin ulkoleikeiksi valikoituivat vauhdikkaat juoksuleikit, kuten mustekalahippa. Touhuntäyteisen ulkoilun jälkeen Minit pääsivät rentoutumaan siilistä, kirpusta ja heidän ystävyydestänsä kertovan sadun äärellä. Sadun lomassa Minit saivat myös pallohierontaa jalkapohjiin, selkiin ja masuihin, joka oli reaktioista päätellen hyvin rentouttavaa, ja ehkä vähän kutittavaa myös! Keskiviikkona suuntasimme retkelle Kannupuistoon. Puistossa Minit kiipesivät innokkaasti liukumäen huipulle ja laskivat alas monen monta kertaa. Välillä pötköteliin myös hämähäkkikeinussa ja otettiin hurjat vauhdit! Retkellä pääsimme myös ihmettelemään luontoa, kun maassa olevat lehdet olivat aivan huurteessa ja niiden pinnalle oli satanut myös pienen pieniä lumihiutaleita. Ihmetystä herätti myös lintujen elämä sekä taivaalla pörisevä helikopteri! Oli myös kiva yllätys, kun Midit ja Maxit toivat meille tuliaisia omalta retkeltään – kaverimme olivat käyneet grillaamassa, ja myös Minit pääsivät maistamaan grillattuja nakkeja, nam! Torstaina musisoimme jälleen Miljan kanssa. Hiiri se mittasi taas ahkerasti maailmaa, käsivarsillamme kipitellen. Soitimme myös marakasseilla vauhdikkaassa rytmissä sekä leikimme yhdessä hauskoja laululeikkejä. Minit ovat oppineet jo monet laulut ja liikkeet superhienosti, hyvä meidän tyypit! Perjantaina pidimme tuttuun tapaan yhteisen aamupiirin koko talon voimin. Piirissä keskustelimme yhdessä lapsen oikeuksista – lapset jakoivat hienosti ajatuksiaan siitä, mitä oikeuksia heillä on: syöminen, leikkiminen, nukkuminen ja se, että heitä hoidetaan! Kokosimme tuokion lopuksi vielä lasten toiveita siitä, mitä he toivoisivat meidän tekevän päiväkodissa. Saimme kasaan aivan mahtavia ideoita, joista jokainen pääsee varmasti toteutukseen – onhan lapsilla oikeus tulla kuulluksi sekä osallistua omien päiviensä suunniteluun ja toteutukseen. 🙂
Ensi viikolla matkustamme Martan johdolla Espanjaan – tällöin luvassa on mukavaa yhteistä puuhaa Espanja-teeman ympärillä. Tämän vuoden puolella tulemme matkustamaan myös Walesiin Trystanin johdolla sekä myöhemmin tutustumme suomalaisiin perinteisiin Nellin kanssa!

MIDIS & MAXIS
Now it’s beginning to feel like winter as the temperature dropped and we also experienced the first snow of the season, albeit just a very light flurry. However, the children were still excited when discussing the weather in the morning circle, most children expressed feelings of joy about the various winter activities ahead. The week began with a creative dance session. We continued with the theme of the forest as the children danced to music improvising various forest animals. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity as they crawled, hopped, skipped, swerved, jumped, lunged, waved and even wobbled to improvise. It was great fun to watch and all the children participated. During Tuesday the Maxis group were split as the Viskari children met with The Kulosaari group at Hertsi Library. Here the children listened to 2 different stories that had been chosen to celebrate the recognition of ‘Children’s Right’s Week’. The storyteller also discussed the importance of feeling safe and secure and that all children should feel this way in all aspects of their lives. It was a very relaxed and pleasurable experience that enabled the children to become aware of the importance of their own welfare. Meanwhile, on a less serious note the midis had been collecting some Autumn leaves which were then used during their arts and craft activity. Following from the forest dancing activity the children coloured and decorated squirrels using various colours and materials. It was an exciting morning on Wednesday as the children looked forward to the forest themed barbeque. After the outdoors morning free play it was just a short walk to the wooded area behind the yard. Here it was possible to create a forest atmosphere whilst we listened to a Moomin story whilst the ‘makkarat’ were on the grill. It was a cold morning, however the excitement of grilling sausage on fire and drinking juice outside was enough to overcome any feeling of coldness. It was back indoors for Thursday’s music session. They are becoming very familiar with the songs and are now able to sing together remembering the words to many of the songs practiced during the season. During each song the children either use body movements, instruments or dance to enhance the experience. Having listened to various genres of music they are developing a sense of joy towards music. Each song is either lead by a pre-recording on the music system or the wonderful sound of the teacher’s voice and the various musical instruments she plays. We finished the week with the toy day. Many children were away as they went with their parents to their work place. We are very excited to hear about their experiences during Monday morning’s circle time.
