VIIKKOKIRJE – WEEKLY LETTER 17/ 2024

This week the Minis got a little surprise in the form of a bonus winter – despite of the colder weather condition we were excited to roll a few more snowballs! At Muskari we practiced to use different tones and volume of our voices, taking turns whispering and roaring out loud like big dinosaurs! Also, our annual Spring Party is approaching soon and we are practicing our songs daily to be performed for the parents at the party. On tuesday our friend Simon the Shrimp came to visit us and teach us about different shapes in English. The group is getting really good in recognizing colors and it is fun to expand our knowledge further! This week we also celebrated the season by crafting beautiful butterflies out of colorful silk paper. We put these butterflies on the windows to reflect light and let color in our room once the sun comes out 😊It was still rainy and cool out on Thursday, so we opted to stay in and do some gymnastics in lieu of our weekly trip. The kids had requested more gymnastics, so everyone was happy eventhough we could not go on a trip. Hopefully next week we get to go out and marvel the surroundings again! The week ended with more spring-themed arts and crafts.

Starting the week with English rhymes were Midis/Maxis used Flash cards, using of rhyme books, and rhyming along with a visual presentation to them. There’s a reason why we teach nursery rhymes to Midis/Maxis. They help them develop an ear for the English language. Rhyme and rhythm highlight the sounds and syllables in words. And understanding sounds and syllables helps Midis/Maxis learn to read! We also had yoga day. Yoga promotes physical strength and motor coordination, and it also teaches Midis/Maxis to use their muscles in different ways. Whether a pose is done standing, sitting, or lying down, each one can challenge various muscle groups. It is important for Midis/Maxis to practice yoga 1-2 times per week. As they become more comfortable and experienced, they can gradually increase their frequency. This week we also had a trip to Hakaniemi park. Midis/Maxis where ecstatic with joy that they had a visit to this park. They were given balloons from Mehiläinen clinic center. Midis/Maxis were happy, and their politeness also should towards the Mehiläinen representative by thanking her for the nice gesture.  Happiness on their faces was always on. The interaction with other kids was nicely observed and the appropriate manners where also used, such as waiting ones turn, play fairly and helping one another. Arts and crafts this week we started to prepare for the upcoming Mother’s Day celebration. Ending the week with another trip to Tervasaari where Midis/Maxis experienced different surroundings in nature and enjoying one’s company. Of course, own toy day was also a BIG part of Midis/Maxis show & tell. Own toy day brings Midis/Maxis closer to one another giving the opportunity to connect and share their toys with one another.

Hauskaa viikonloppua!
