VIIKKOKIRJE 17/2021

VIIKKOKIRJE / WEEKLY LETTER 17/ 2021

NEXT WEEK (WEEK 17)

This week the Captains started on Monday with a very fun arts and crafts project. Each of us let our imagination run creative and made colorful balloons to decorate Vappu. Now beautiful balloons of different colors are hanging on our wall! On Tuesday, in our Muskari class we had an amazing time being different animals like big and small fishes and dancing with the rhythm of the music.

On Wednesday, we had a practice fire trainning. We were very quick and organized when leaving the school, and the teachers congratulated us for being the smallest but the bravest! After that, we enjoyed the Open Mic full of energy with all our friends. On Thursday, we went to the trip at Kauppatori. During our adventure we counted all the benchs we saw which its different colours and we saw at the end of the street the beautiful sea with the seagulls flying through the sky. On Friday we celebrate Vappu! The daycare was decorated with balloons and serpentines and we had a beauty salon where we got a relaxing beauty treatment, a hand massage and nail painting! We had a Vappu photoshoot wall and a small circuit course to warm up before the disco. The week ended with our traditional Vappu Disco! It has been a very exciting week for the Captains!

Kipparien viikko alkoi ohjatulla leikillä pienryhmissä. Kotileikissä mittailtiin kuumetta ja hoidettiin flunssaisia nukkeja. Muskarissa jatkui vedenalainen teema. Ihanaa vappua kaikille!

The curious Sailors paid a special and festive visit to South Africa and Madagascar this week. On the fourth biggest island of the whole world, we made friends with unique animals like Lemurs and tenrecs that are native to Madagascar by crafting silver cardboard ring-tailed Lemur mommy and her baby with a twisted black-and-white pipe cleaner tail attached on mommy and by colouring in those adorable animals. In the Southmost country of the Continent of Africa, we met again many wild animal friends that also live in other parts of Africa and made friends with the National Animal Springbok. We also made our paper version of Vuvuzela by rolling a piece of colourful paper and certainly we danced with Shakira’s song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” that is the official song of 2010 FIFA World Cup hosted in South Africa. In the Outdoor Gymnastics, we enjoyed games utilising fun and colourful Vappu ribbons and balloons that were used also for decorating our classroom by ourselves. Thanks to the lovely sun coming back again after a few rainy and cloudy days, we started learning Skipping the rope, continued blowing bubbles and enjoyed our happy walking around the neighbourhood on the trip. We openly discussed what we had seen and known about Corona vaccinations, mask using and doctors and nurses wearing personal protective equipment at the hospital, so that we are not confused or scared about the current situation and we can enjoy our happy Day Care days and stay hopeful for the future! Again with the open discussions in briefing before and debriefing after the Evacuation Drill, we reminded Wei that she needed to take the mobile phones, the key and the Daily List with her during the drill. We practised very calmly and completed the drill very well! On the Vappu Party morning wearing amazing costumes of Elsa, Sleeping Beauty, NASA astronaut, fire fighter, mighty king, fairy bunny and police officer, we rocked our party by playing games of “Duck, Duck, Goose” with our own themesand “Pin the Tail on the Lemur”, taking fun photos with funny props and surely dancing free style in the Disco! We fairly shared and took vuvuzelas, balloons, ribbons and props home to enjoy our Vappu weekend after the face painting activity at the Park in the afternoon. Have a safe and fun Vappu everyone!
