MIDIT-MIDIS
We all have enjoyed the sunny winter days this week!
The Midis were busy making Valentine’s cards with a personal message for their chosen friends. In physical education, children’s involvement was maximized when every child named an animal, made the sound of the chosen animal, and showed its movements as the rest of the group followed. The purpose of the said activity was to provide equal opportunity for the children to become a leader and a follower in turns. The children also practiced climbing to the spider web paying attention to proper use of hands and legs when we visited Temppeliaukio Park. Before the week ended, we recognized 112 Day. We had a virtual tour in a fire station and animal rescue practice. To rescue the animals, the children had to do the three tasks: get the tape pulled up, get the animals off the tape, and finally, get the tape off their fingers – which is a lot for the little humans. This activity strengthens hand-eye-coordination, fine motor skills, simple planning and decision making, and problem solving appropriate for their age. A lovely weekend to all!
MAXIT-MAXIS
Another creative week for the little Maxis marked with activities related to the upcoming holiday Valentine and the Friendship’s Day. During the morning circles we talked about Family, Friends, Friendship and Myself, what makes us happy, love for family and friends. We learned the days of the week in English and few musical instruments. They were excited about our small experiment where they found out how to make marble paper using soup and milk. We also learned the basic colours, played with them and created beautiful art works of our activity “My Colour of Love”, while listening to Chopin, where a conversation preceded by which everyone shared who are the persons who make them happy. It was heartwarming to see how motivated they were to do the heart cards as their gentle gift for the holiday. Happy Valentine’s Day! Hyvää ystävänpäivää!
VISKARIT & MESTARIT
Fiiiuuuu ja fouuuuu kuului vain, kun nämä hurjapäät laskivat pulkkamäkeä mitä erikoisimmissa asennoissa, kuka mitenkin päin. Tyyli oli vapaa ja toista kannustettiin ja tsempattiin upeasti. Osa ryhmästä keskittyi taiteellisempaan puoleen luoden linnoituksia, vallihautoja ja erinäisiä merkkipaaluja lumesta ja jäästä. Parasta oli pitkät ulkoilut mukavassa pikkupakkasessa ja auringonpaisteessa. Akateemisia taitojakin tietysti harjoiteltiin viikon mittaan, pidimme matematiikkaan keskittyneet toimintapajat, joissa laskettiin, vertailtiin, tunnistettiin ja rakennettiin noppaluvun osoittamia numeroita apuna käyttäen. Mestarit oppivat uuden juhlakirjaimen ja koko loppuviikon olemmekin miettineet E-kirjaimella alkavia tavaroita, paikan ja ihmisten nimiä sekä missä kaikissa paikoissa me tätä kirjainta näemmekään.
