VIIKKOKIRJE – WEEKLY LETTER 4/2023

Minis-Midis:

We have had a busy week! Huuuuh! : – ) First. We started our White week. The weather helped us, and we found white snow in the park, on the trees, bushes and streets. On Friday we were lucky with kids to enjoy even the sun! Our Morning Circles were dedicated to the white color and, of course, our favorite songs Head and shoulders and Snowman songs. I would say that we are rather successful with them. On Monday we dealt with kids to find as much white color as possible (white cars were their most favorite ones). On Tuesday we were listening to Antonio Vivaldi “Winter” with explanation in Finish and English. Everything was white while listening: snowflakes, snowstorm, filed and forests, towns. On Wednesday at Arts&Crafts lesson, we practiced our motor skills, tearing the white paper into small pieces, squeezing it and gluing it to our snowman. At Thursday’s English Club we played color games with flash cards and hunted for the white color inside the daycare. We finished this week on Friday in the gym with disco, dancing Action song. Kids followed the instructions and enjoyed it a lot!

Maxis-Viskaris:
This week our theme was patience and respect. We started the week by discussing together what it means to be patient, in which situations it’s needed and why. Then we talked about respect and children had lots of examples about respecting others and nature. During the week’s Morning Circles we talked about the theme more and more and in everyday routines and situations as well. On Tuesday we had a bus trip to the Gallträsk park on the bus. For the Viskari task this week, Viskaris practiced mixing colours and then drew respect themed drawings. Maxis practiced drawing with a pair, using A4-sized paper that had a line in the middle. The task was to stay in their own sides, respecting the other one´s space, and see what happens in each group and what kind of drawing they make together. Afterwards we took a photo of each group holding their drawing together. On Friday we had a sunny, chilly weather and headed outdoors, children chose Thurman´s park for the destination and there they practiced climbing and played. We also took a block of ice with us from the park, to see what happens to it during nap time. Some children were curious to see if it really melts during nap time.

Maxis-Viskaris next week:
