WEEK LETTER VK 49/ 2020

MINIS:

This week’s theme for Minis had been “Christmas all around the word” and on Monday the group crafted and decorated traditional Greek Christmas boats, using paper, glitter, glue, and silk paper. On Tuesday, Minis celebrated Spanish Christmas by crafting and decorating “poinsettia” flowers and singing “Feliz Navidad”. On Tuesday afternoon, the group also enjoyed their music school with their beloved teacher Vilma. On Wednesday, Minis listened to traditional Estonian Christmas music, but also practiced their baking skills once more by baking lovely joulutorttu, that everyone got to taste during snack time! On Thursday, children listened to Christmas Filipino music and rehearsed the Christmas party songs and dancing outdoors. Later, Minis got to develop their gross motor skills and had a lot of fun participating in an “Elf “morning exercise! On Friday, kids got to practice their physical skills, balance and coordination, taking part in a “Ninja” obstacle course training, which involved jumping over obstacles, climbing, walking on a path, crawling under tunnels and balancing on a narrow track. Minis had a smooth and lovely week and looking forward for the next one!

MIDIS AND MAXIS:

Midis and Maxis started the week crafting and decorating the traditional boat from Greece. During this activity they work on their fine motor skills. On Tuesday, it was the first day of December, meaning that the Advent Calendar has finally started. As we did last year, Midis and Maxis will share the Christmas Calendar. This year, day by day, one of the adults opens a colorful window, and behind this window, there will be a photo of a child from Midis or Maxis. Then, the child who appears in the window will receive a small present: Gingerbread in Christmas shapes and a poem in English or Finnish. On the same day, they celebrated Christmas in Spain, singing and dancing traditional songs from the country. Besides, they could play different instruments to follow the rhythm and improve their musical skills. But the music didn´t stop after the activity, they continued at the end of the day with Muskari. During next day, they went to a spontaneous trip to the forest, following a good idea that one kid proposed. In the forest, the group interacted with nature and played with it and they were making nests for anacondas. Children worked together really nicely, carrying wood etc. They had a great time playing together, picking up huge sticks, and more. On Thursday, the group listened and danced Christmas songs from Philippines. In the afternoon, The last day of the week, we celebrated Ninja Day. The kids needed to concentrate on play certain types of movements like: climbing the hill, being quick and quiet as a mouse, jumping on the rocks to cross the river, tiptoe across the rope, etc. It was a good activity to develop their gross motor skills. It was a lovely week!

VISKARIT:

Viskari activity was in English. The adult was giving instructions to the kids about: finish drawing the pictures, which one is big? Circle it, and how many are there? The group worked super focused and also they practiced listening skills and English skills.
