Viikko aloiteltiin minien kanssa kädentaidoilla. Askarteluprojektina oli tehdä laskiaispullat. Ensin lapset saivat maustemaalata paperille. Sekoitimme pullanväriseen maaliin pullantuoksuisia mausteita kuten. kardemummaa.

This week started with outdoor games. Kids were learning to work as a team. Some of them tried to clean the walking road from ice and water with shovels and trucks, some of them played in sandbox and transported sand from one place to another. Before the naptime we were reading stories. Tuesday was a “Lumileikkejä” laskiaistiistai. We sled from the snow hill and tried to have a longest slide possible. Afterwards we got to enjoy the perfect buns with whipped cream and jam made by Viskari and Eskari. On Wednesday we had a competition game with cups by trying to balance them up to each other as a triangle, by doing that they learned to win and lose, that both is okay. To get the final points they had to tell body parts in English – they were all doing great! Thursday started with Arts and Crafts. Midis were drawing a person with different body parts. Also they added an emotion to its face, either happy or sad etc. In addition they drew the weather for the background and when the picture was ready then each kid was explaining his/her picture in English. The week ended with a Pyjama party. Midis were so excited to show off their pyjamas so we made a little fashion walk. We were watching some movies and ate delicious snacks. The last day of the week was great!

VISKARIT JA MESTARI-ANKATT
The week started for Viskarit and Eskarit with some outdoor games. The weather was incredibly good this week, and there was still a big pile of snow to have a lot of fun. In the afternoon, the kids used the traditional Laskiaspulla recipe to prepare the dough. On the next day, Viskarit and Eskarit had the opportunity to slide down the snow hill celebrating Laskiastiistai. In the afternoon, the parents came to have a cup of warm juice and enjoy each other’s company. On Wednesday, Viskarit group practised numerical series. To do so, they played different games, such as placing the cars with numbers in a line, completing series with missing numbers, entering the cars into the parking lot using the correct order, and much more activities. They also practised counting and writing up to 20. On the other hand, the Eskarit group practised measuring. The activity consisted of measuring different things in the room, using the palms of their hands, the number of steps, and the ruler as measuring references. On the next day, both groups practised symmetry. The beginning of the activity consisted in a small reminder of what symmetry is; then, they imagined and constructed symmetrical structures with plus plus, small lego, wooden blocks, dublos, and more. On one side of a line, there were different shapes and patterns and on the other side, the children had to copy it in a symmetrical way. The activity was a bit difficult for some of them, but symmetry is a helpful tool to organize our world conceptually. By doing the activity, they also practised concentration skills, hand-eye coordination and solving-problem skills. On the last day of the week, the whole unit had a pyjama party. The children wore their best pyjamas, danced to cheerful music and had a great time.
