VIIKKOKIRJE / WEEKLY LETTER 6 / 2021
Kapteenit ovat tällä viikolla juhlistaneet ystävyyttä, tulevan ystävänpäivän kunniaksi. Olemme keskustelleet siitä, millainen on hyvä kaveri ja millaisia kavereita haluamme olla toinen toisillemme. Tulimme siihen lopputulokseen, että oikeastaan jokainen päivän on ystävänpäivä ja voimme osoittaa ystävyyttä esim. hellästi halaamalla tai silittämällä toista. Siinä Kapteenit ovatkin erityisen taitavia! Olemme myös jutelleet perheistä ja muista rakkaistamme aamupiirillä. Näin pääsimme taas harjoittelemaan uutta sanastoa ja samalla oppimaan toisistamme lisää. Tällä viikolla olemme laulaneet paljon, suomen ja englannin kielellä. Myös laulujen aiheet ovat liittyneet viikon teemaan, kuten laulut: ”Minun ystäväni” sekä ”Tule ystäväksi näin”. Viikon mittaan ahkeroimme myös ystävänpäivä askartelujen parissa, samalla hioen kädentaitojamme ja tutustuen uusiin materiaaleihin. Lopputuloksen näemme varmasti pian! Viikkoomme on kuulunut myös kiinalaisen uudenvuoden viettoa, yhdessä Kipparien sekä Seiloreiden kanssa. Päätimme viikkomme ystävänpäiväjuhliin, josta ei tanssin riemua puuttunut! Ilmapallot olivat Kapteenien mieleen, ja toivat monelle hymyn huulille.
Kipparien viikko alkoi ihanalla talvisella retkellä auringonpaisteessa. Lapset saivat äänestää retkikohteen ja määränpääksi valikoitui Tervasaari. Tervasaaressa kiipeilimme lumikasoissa, teimme yhdessä hauskoja jälkiä hankeen jonossa kulkien ja leikimme Missä minun ystäväni on -leikkiä. Tiistain muskarissa lauloimme, soitimme ja tanssimme Sarin kanssa mm. aura-autoista, lumiukoista, luistelusta sekä hiihtämisestä. Keskiviikkona askartelimme leikaten ja teipaten kiinalaiset lyhdyt torstain juhlaa varten. Kipparien saksien käsittelytaidot ovat harjoittelun myötä kehittyneet hurjasti! Torstaina pääsimme odotetulle vierailulle Seiloreiden ryhmätilaan ja juhlimme yhdessä kiinalaista uuttavuotta! Wei kertoi meille mm. Kiinan lipusta, pandoista ja kiinalaisesta ruokakulttuurista. Pääsimme myös kuulemaan kiinalaisen lastenlaulun sekä harjoittelemaan muutaman kiinan kielisen sanan. Viikon päätimme ystävänpäivää juhlistaen. Ohjelmassa oli pohdintoja ystävyydestä, korttipaja, hattarataikinalla muovailua, laululeikkejä, kaverikuvausta ja tietysti DISCO!
The curious Sailors have always been very interested in Chinese culture to which we are familiar,and as a tradition of the group’s and the whole house’s we celebrated the Chinese New Year together this week! We checked our own Chinese Zodiac Animals on the website kiinalainenuusivuosi.fi, and it turned out that the Viskaris are Goats and the Pre-Viskaris are Monkeys. Most of the Skippers are Roosters and the most of the Captains are Dogs like Wei. In honour of the New Year of the Ox, each of us made an adorable 3D paper craft calf by cutting along the profile very carefully and patiently. We found by ourselves all the pages about China in our encyclopaedias that provided us so much eye-opening knowledge and facts about this vast country and its long history. With the information on the book “Makuatlas”, we figured out many raw materials, sauces and spices that are commonly cultivated, produced and cooked for both daily lives and festivities of Chinese people, and certainly we decided the fillings of our Chinese dumplings and spring rolls. With fresh eggs, shrimps, minced pork, Chinese cabbage, leek, cucumber, ginger purchased from Hakaniemen kauppahalli and special spring roll pastry, bean sprouts, tofu, rice vinegar, soy sauce purchased from Asian market, we learnt how to make dumplings and spring rolls that are not easy for Chinese to prepare. For many of us, those dumplings and spring rolls were our very first self-made of our lives! We also bravely tried to eat with chopsticks! We loved our own cooking so much and so did our teachers, so there was not leftovers but we took rice crackers home as the snack. On the Chinese New Year’s Eve, we invited the Skippers and the Captains to our decorated classroom full of Chinese elements to watch a presentation about pandas, Chinese cuisine, a nursery rhyme video and simple greetings in Mandarin Chinese. Besides Panda postcards for the Captains and images of Chinese paper cutting and zodiac animals for the Skippers and us as the souvenirs, we also got our given names and zodiac animals written in Simplified Chinese with the phrase meaning Happy New Year. In addition to soothing traditional Chinese Zen music of Bamboo Flute, Guzheng and Erhu etc., we also listened to the entire Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot conducted by Herbert von Karajan, performed by Placido Domingo and Vienna Philharmonic. For the Valentine’s Day, we happily joined the Disco Party in which we took very good use of a Sailor’s awesome disco ball and gave one another a heartwarming card with Chinese characters 爱 (Love), 友谊 (Friendship) 永远 (Forever) written on it by us with Wei’s help. 牛年大吉！(Happy Chinese New Year of the Ox) and Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
