MINIT
Minien viikko käynnistyi sateisissa merkeissä. Pihalla oli paljon vesilätäköitä, joiden äärellä Minit touhusivat mieluusti. Välillä käytiin tietysti myös vähän keinumassa ja harjoiteltiin, kuinka liukumäkeen kiivetään turvallisesti. Sisällä leikimme omilla lelupäivän leluilla ja rakentelimme torneja pikkupalikoilla. Saimme myös viikon aluksi uuden Mini-Ankan mukaan joukkoomme. Uusi pieni ystävämme toivotettiin tervetulleeksi porukkaamme lämpimien halausten kera! Tiistaina pääsimme harjoittelemaan kädentaitojamme piirtelyhommien parissa – wau mitä hienoja taideteoksia ja värien loistoa taas nähtiinkään! Kettu-keskiviikkona oli aika harjoitella oman kehon hallintaa ja päästää luovuus valloilleen jumpparadan parissa. Minit ryömivät innokkaasti tunnelissa ja yhdessä heiteltiin hernepusseja sekä palloja. Torstaina oli vuorossa muskaripäivä, joka onkin aina yksi viikon kohokohdista. Soitimme Miljan kanssa marakasseilla ja soittoputkilla sekä leikimme hauskoja laululeikkejä. Erityisen kivaa oli, kun heittelimme harsoja ilmaan, teimme niistä lumipalloja ja välillä piilouduimme harsojen taakse piiloon ja huusimme kovaan ääneen ’’kukkuu!’’. Perjantaina Minit pääsivät askartelemaan omat Runebergin tortut, joista tulikin niin herkullisen näköisiä, että omia teoksia haluttiin kovasti maistella… 🙂 Tutkimme myös aamupiirin yhteydessä lorupussin sisältöä, ja löysimmekin sieltä vaikka mitä hauskoja loruja. Innokkaasti Minit toistelivat sanoja perässä, ja halusivat kuulla lorut aina uudestaan ja uudestaan!

This week we welcomed February and we are all here still waiting for some more snow to arrive especially when we’re discussing the weather during the circle time, let’s hope for at least a little more before the end of the winter season. The week began as usual with the toy day where we practice many different adjectives in English to describe the toys. Shapes, size and colour are but some of the words we practice as well as grouping the toys into various categories.
It was Kulosaaris turn to visit us here for the Viskari club this week. We looked at repeating patterns where the children observed various patterns from cubes and coloured shapes. They then went on in pairs to repeat the patterns several times using the cubes and coloured shapes. Later we practiced the same concept on paper using coloured pencils and we also looked and created repeating number patterns. The midis group had various construction activities using Lego, and hamma beads and pin boards to create pictures and patterns. All three activities enabled the children to focus on developing their fine motor skills and be creative using their own imagination.
It was the scared/nervous emotion we discussed during the circle time on Wednesday and we played ’Carl Orff, Carmina Burana’ to create an atmosphere. We dimmed the lights and the children then used water colour paints to portray their emotions they felt on paper. We have one more emotion to discuss and paint next week and we will then create a collage of each painting for every child.
During the music class on Thursday the children are learning a new song about a car whilst continuing to use various percussions to practice rhythm. The children are also becoming very familiar with classical music at the moment. During the last few weeks we have been painting listening to various pieces of music, meanwhile the children will dance to classical music during the music classes.
We ended the week with another art activity and created a Runeberg cake using various materials. Again fine motor skills were developed during the activity to cut and glue paper and felt to create the art. They looked good enough to eat at the end of the session. Maybe they get to taste the real cake during the official day on Sunday.
