Viikkokirje 4
MINIT/MINIS
Minit aloittivat viikon kuuntelemalla äänisatua Muumipeikon aarre ja iltapäivällä oli vielä muskari. Tiistaina maalasimme värikkäät lapaset koristamaan seinää. Keskiviikkona lähdimme yhdessä Maxien kanssa retkelle Orava- puistoon. Torstaina vietimme laulutuokiota. Perjantaina nautimme raittiista talvisäästä sekä vietimme lelupäivää.

On Monday we read the book “Amazing me: Its busy being 3”, where Joey the kangaroo guided us what the milestones for 3 year olds are. This includes dressing up and brushing teeth independently. 👕🪥Each child got the opportunity to share with the group which skills they have mastered and which they are still practising. We had a trip day planned on Tuesday but some adults were sick, so we stayed at the daycare instead where sang songs and made some crafts. 🎶 We got to practise our scissor skills during the crafts. One of the songs we sang during morning circle was “Open Shut them” and we got to use some of the vocabulary during our crafts – Open and shut the scissors to cut! ✂️ On Wednesday we had Arts & Crafts where we created our own pizzas, practised our scissor skills again and got to decide what we wanted to put on our pizzas. All of us decided to put pineapple on our pizza, although some adults might not agree… Pineapple on pizza?! YUMMY! 🍕🍍 Thursday we had sensory play. We *touched* different textures incl. boiled pasta, feathers and tree bark, *smelled* orange peels, cacao and ylang ylang flower (essential oil), *listened* to different musical instruments and ended our tour in a disco room where we *saw* a colourful disco ball🪩, soap bubbles🫧 and danced to music. 🎶 Let’s stay curious!🕵️ Finally came toy day Friday again, where we continue to learn taking care of our own belongings, sharing with others and practice talking in front of a group by showing our toys to our friends in the morning circle. 🧩🚓🧸

MAXIT/MAXIS
This week we were about spatial awareness and problem-solving skills. To start the week off, we had arts and crafts, and Maxis were shown an image where they were given as few directions as possible and just look at the picture and try to imitate the picture in front of them. We had Viskari activities the next day and guided activities for the other Maxis. We practiced our spatial skills by recreating 2D and 3D models that were presented to us. The Viskari did the more challenging activities together Hranta Viskari. The last 3D model was a bit challenging, and it took us a lot of time, because of this, Maxis are practicing building 3D models in a form of games to enhance our spatial skills. We went to Orava park via bus and enjoyed the winter-y feel of the place. It was nice to see different parks on different seasons. On Thursday, we read a story entitled “Stuck”. It was about a boy who had one problem to solve but ended up accumulating more because of the way he was trying to solve his first problem. The Maxis along the way thought – why did he not do this instead of that? We discussed that even though we are presented with the same problems it doesn’t necessarily mean we will have the same solution for it. We talked how we are going to solve the boy’s problem in the story and our Maxis gave out different answers and a couple of them having the same solution- proving that while we are all different, we can also be the same, one way or another. 💛Our walk trip project continues and visited another Maxis’ house. The Maxi who was in charge today gave us a perfect direction and even told us a lot of stories along the way. She kept us entertained the whole time! It was fun to see our Maxi being oh-so-proud leading the way! We also had toy day to end the week and that’s a wrap!
