MINIT
Minien viikko käynnistyi raittiista ulkoilmasta ja pallopeleistä nauttien. Yhdessä harjoittelimme muun muassa kopin ottamista, pallon heittämistä hulavanteen läpi sekä pallon potkaisemista maalitolppien väliin tähdäten. Palloja käsitellessämme huomasimme, että pienet, hieman kevyemmät pallot pystyi heittämään vähän kauempaa, kun taas isoja palloja heittäessä kannatti mennä lähemmäksi hulavannetta. Saimme myös aikamoisen hien pintaan, kun kirmasimme pallojen perässä ympäri pihaa! Minit ovat viime aikoina olleet hyvin kiinnostuneita muovailemisesta, jonka vuoksi ryhdyimme tiistaina toteuttamaan itseämme taikataikinan äärellä. Taikinan muotoilemisessa käytimme apunamme muotteja, rullia ja kaulimia sekä tietysti omia pieniä sormiamme, jotka oli hauska upottaa kylmään ja pehmeään taikinaan. Tuokion lopuksi paistoimme valmiit teokset uunissa, ja näitä ”keksejä”, kuten minit ne nimesivät, pääsemme hyödyntämään myöhemmin syksyllä projektissa, jonka toteutamme koko talon kesken. Keskiviikkona oli taas aika retkeillä – jee! Suuntasimme tällä kertaa Herttoniemen Kartanonpuistoon, jossa emme olleetkaan käyneet hetkeen. Retkellä Minit tutkivat ahkerasti maahan pudonneita lehtiä ja tammenterhoja, jotka tietysti kerättiin talteen ja vietiin päiväkodille. Luonnon aarteiden lisäksi bongasimme retkellä lammessa uiskentelevat sorsat, joita ihastelimme ja ihmettelimme pitkän tovin, samalla luonnon ääniä kuunnellen. Torstaina oli vuorossa muskaripäivä, jota olimmekin jo innolla odottaneet. Pääsimme laulamaan Miljan kanssa edelliseltä viikolta tuttuja syyslauluja. Piirissä lauloimme yhdessä syksyn sateista, lehdistä ja sienistä sekä harjoittelimme äänen tuottamista omilla kehonosillamme. Tällä kertaa pääsimme myös tutustumaan soittoputkiin, jotka olivatkin meille uusi tuttavuus. Viikon päätteeksi vietimme pitkän aamu-ulkoilun yhdessä pihatöitä tehden ja sisällä leikimme rauhallisia leikkejä omilla lelupäivän leluilla. Leikkien lomassa harjoiteltiin tietysti myös, kuinka leluja jaetaan kavereiden kesken, vaikka ne ovatkin omia leluja. Mukavan touhukas viikko takana, ihanaa viikonloppua kaikille!

It’s been another bright and sunny week here again at the Day Care and all the children have been happy with the variety of activities throughout the week. The week began continuing to explore and learn about city life at the Hertsi shopping centre. This week we included a survey of shops, services and amenities during the trip where the children had to find 12 different places from their picture cards. These included restaurants and shops and also services such as public toilets, play areas, a library, fitness studios, parking halls, pharmacy, florist and laundry washing. We ticked each one as we roamed through the mall. We also showed that it was possible to travel there by Metro, however, as part of the experience we travelled from there by bus. This was the highlight for many of the children! On Tuesday we played a game of Bingo. The Bingo cards included the pictures that were on the Hertsi Survey card. Before the game we asked the children if they remembered what each picture or symbol represented. We asked the viskari what these pictures and symbols were in English. We then played 3 games of Bingo which the children were very excited about. We continued with a table game during Wednesday morning. Firstly we discussed some of the professions of people working at some of the various places we visited in Hertsi. We later discussed some other professions such as Doctors, Firemen, Vets, Postman, Chef, Police, Dentist and a Construction worker. For the game the children had to then match various pictures connected with each profession. We would encourage the viskari group to try to name some of the objects in English as well as teach the whole group some new English vocabulary. The music sessions continued on Thursday where the children practiced rhythm using various percussions – drums and maracas. They were also introduced to some percussion tubes that were very exciting for them as they bounced them on the floor to create a deep ‘hollow’ sound. The week ended with collecting the Autumn leaves from the yard and then later the toy day. The children talked to the rest of the group about their toy and continued to practice the vocabulary that describes their toy. These include shape, size and colour. We hope that you all continue to have some exciting times with your children until the end of the week and we look forward to another full week of activities to end the September month.
