VIIKKOKIRJE – WEEKLY LETTER 35/2021

Mukavaa viikonloppua!

MAXIT: September started and the monthly theme also changed into Animal Fairytales, Puppet Shows and Theatrical Shows. The Maxis enjoyed experiencing quite a few new activities this week sometimes also together with the Midis, and the feedback was surprisingly positive as well! To introduce multiculturalism on the children’s levels, in the Arts and Crafts activity, each Preschooler chose the skin tone of her / his 3D paper doll and a national dress from 10 different set all around the world to make and take home with a children’s world map for the doll to travel. Some of the Viskaris also made her / his simplified version by cutting and sticking 2D paper figures on the map. We also made a beautiful Farewell Card for Marizen by drawing lovely hearts and flowers that Marizen likes and writing down many compliments from our mouths. We already miss you a lot! We love assembling LEGO bricks and the nearly 900-piece Bonsai Tree from the latest series Botanical Collection was completed within in a week! As we wished since next week we will continue assembling the nearly 1200-piece Bird of Paradise from the same collection and a castle including more pieces as our first architecture as well! Easy Peasy. On the refreshing picnic trip together with the Midis on the sunny Tuesday morning, we walked in pairs along the seaside, viewed the beautiful scenery, enjoyed the yummy picnic and practised waste recycling. Such a simple event brought us so much joy that we would definitely have more trips from now on. In the English Common Circle Time together with the Midis, we enjoyed the interactive stand-up comedy-styled origami puppet show “Little Red Riding hood and the Big Good Wolf” in which the Wolf was big but also nice, helped Riding Hood carrying the presents, visited Granny together and wished her all the best and a quick recovery! We like this version!

The intelligent Viskaris has learnt all of the 12 pairs of opposite words in English and Finnish in 2 weeks. Besides the previous 6 pairs that we learnt last week, we learnt:

The tower is TALL and the fence is LOW.

The snake is LONG and the worm is SHORT.

The dog is UNDER the table and the flower bouquet in the flower vase is ON the table.

The cabinet clock is BIG and the alarm clock is SMALL.

The notebook is THIN and the book is THICK.

The candy is SWEET and the lemon is SOUR.

Besides the opposite words and the contents of the Finnish Preschool session that was reviewed in English as well, the super smart and humorous Preschoolers also completed worksheets about numbers and the sequence of the morning routine.
