MIDIT:
Kädentaidoissa pääsimme vielä hetkeksi kesäisiin tunnelmiin, kun muistelimme minkälaisia jäätelöitä tuli kesällä syötyä ja jokainen sai askarrella omanlaisensa jäätelötötterön. Retkellä reippaat Midi-Ankat kävivät Sorsavuorella. Etsimme kovasti jo syksyn merkkejä, mutta niitä ei ollut juurikaan vielä näkyvissä. Jännittävin hetki taisi olla, kun kävelimme kallioreittiä ja löysimme kallioilta hienoja pikkukiviä. Ensimmäinen muskari oli tällä viikolla ja lapset olivat iloisia, kun tuttu muskariope Ulla oli heitä vastassa. Viikko huipentui leikkipäivään ja yhteiseen piiriin Maxien ja Mini-Ankkojen kanssa. Yhteisessä piirissä ehdottomasti hauskinta oli autoleikki, jossa piti noudattaa liikennesääntöjä tai saattoi joutua poliisin pysäyttämäksi, hui! Aamupiireissä olemme keskustelleet paljon ystävyydestä ja tunteista. Mukavaa viikonloppua kaikille!
The talented Midis have actively concentrated for 30 minutes in the English Midi Club. After reviewing old songs and vocabulary that we learnt before, we discussed who were present and who were absent by singing “Is ___ here? Yes, I am. / No, she/he is not.” We also learnt 3 new English songs by watching the animated videos on Youtube “Mr.Sun, Sun, Mr.Golden Sun” about weather conditions, “Hello!” about greetings and feelings and “Skidamarink” about friendship and playing together nicely.
MAXIT:
On the daily basis, we kept practising getting dressed / undressed in the proper sequence independently, table manners and hygienic habits when using the toilet. This Monday was special and exciting, because for quite a few of us, it was the first time that we made an origami work with our little and agile fingers without using scissors or gluestick. As a friend wished, we tried to make floral wreaths with pieces of colourful paper. This time each of the Viskaris completed a tulip floral wreath and the Preschoolers even completed complicated roses with the help of Wei! In our Outdoor Gym besides the familiar games “Maa, meri & laiva (Land, Sea & Ship)”, “Hedelmäsalaatti (Fruit Salad)” and in English “I Spy with My Little Eye, Something in the Colour of ___ Like ___”, we also tried to pass a soft ball by either kicking or tossing it to another friend of ours around the circle while saying hers/his name.
On Wednesday the Day of “Päiväkotirauha”, we started the long-term project for making and keeping our Day Care a happy, peaceful and safe place where we all can enjoy our daily life, learning and development together by actively participating in playful and educative activities and contributing wonderful ideas for as much as possible! First the Preschoolers tried the relevant board game and openly discussed for example how we could know that each of us has had a good day at the Day Care, how we could feel safe and not lonely and how we could let others feel safe and not lonely as well, how we could be good and supportive friends to others etc. that were later read through in Viskari Club. The wise thinkers of the Viskaris certainly also added many good thoughts and ideas to the same topic!
Torstain aamupiirissä oli ohjelmassa pöytäteatteri, jossa Muumi-aiheinen tarina käsitteli ystävyyttä ja toisen auttamista. Muumipeikon ystävä Nuuskamuikkunen auttoi surullista Muumipeikkoa siivoamaan huoneen ja etsimään kadonnutta simpukkaa. Siivoaminen ei ole aina mukavaa, mutta Muumipeikko huomasi, että tavarat pysyvät paremmassa tallessa, kun tavarat ovat paikoillaan. Keskustelimme ystävyydestä ja siitä, millainen on hyvä kaveri. Maxit askartelivat pareittain toisilleen hienot koira-aiheiset työt, joiden nimeksi tulivat ”ystävyyden koirat”. Maxit askartelivat ja liimasivat huolellisesti ja kyselivät toisiltaan, millaisia koristeita kaveri haluaa. Olemme myös tehneet yhdessä keskustellen Maxeille yhteiset säännöt. Kaveria saa halia, auttaa, lohduttaa sekä ottaa mukaan leikkiin ja nauraa yhdessä. Mutta ei saa töniä, nauraa toiselle tai jättää ketään ulkopuolelle. Hienot säännöt!
The Viskari Club concentrated on pairs of flash cards of opposite words:
The car is FAST and the snail is SLOW.
The girl is HAPPY and the boy is SAD.
The girl is IN FRONT OF the tree and the boy is BEHIND the tree.
The door is OPEN and the windows are CLOSED.
The feather is LIGHT and the elephant is HEAVY.
The highway is BROAD / WIDE and STRAIGHT and the path is NARROW and WINDING.
Besides learning pairs of opposite words, each of the Preschoolers found all of the letters in their given name from the Finnish alphabet, counted and wrote down the number of the letters. We also completed the worksheet “Which one does not belong to the group?” to reinforce our categorising skills. We also did a wonderful job colouring all the small dotted pieces to reveal 7 uppercase letters on a worksheet from Oppi & ilo. We would give a try on the 300-piece jigsaw puzzle of the World Map on which we could see people wearing various national or daily dresses representing different amazing cultures and animals all around the world! The relaxing weekend would be a perfect chance for us and our parents to think of what we would like to do next week!
