Minis began our week with music, singing The Sun Has Got His Hat On together in English. During our morning circle, we introduced Buddy Bear, one of the Duck’s mascot friends. Buddy Bear helps us explore friendship, emotions and feeling safe together. In the afternoons each day this week, we also enjoyed Finnish music time and explored different musical instruments. On Tuesday Owl joined us for a little nature adventure in our local park. The children explored their surroundings and collected natural treasures such as rocks, sticks and leaves. We brought our discoveries back with us to use in our sensory tray, giving the children opportunities to touch, observe and explore different textures and natural materials. On Wednesday for our movement activity, we practised passing and rolling a ball to one another in a circle. This simple game supported hand-eye coordination and motor skills while also encouraging the children to notice one another, take turns and participate together as a group. Our Minis got creative on thursday with paint and made their own handprints for a special group arts and crafts project. Painting with our hands is also a lovely sensory experience, allowing the children to explore colour, texture and their own creativity. We will finish our week with our much-loved Toy Day, when the children can bring a favourite toy from home to share with the group. We will also enjoy a Finnish-language puppet show, supporting language learning through playful characters, sounds and storytelling.
Viskarimaxit ovat viikolla keskittyneet Buddy Bearin kanssa tunnetaitojen parissa työskentelyyn. Olemme yhdessä kuvakorttien avulla tunnistaneet ja nimenneet eri tunteita, pohtineet yhdessä milloin tämmöinen tunne on ollut meillä itsellämme viimeksi, sekä pelailleet tunnekorteilla erilaisia pelejä. Yksi viskarimaxien suosikkipeleistä on tunnesalapoliisileikki, jossa yksi kerrallaan tai pareittain he saavat taskulampun valossa etsiä erilaisista paikoista kadonneet tunnekortit. Tunnekorttien löydyttyä he saavat nimetä tämän tunteen muille ystävilleen. Viikon aikana olemme tutustuneet myös aamupiirin uuteen osioon, jossa jokaiselle viikonpäivälle on nimetty oma liike jonka pääsemme yhdessä tekemään aamupiirin yhteydessä. Liikkeitä ovat esimerkiksi Monday mountain, Tuesday taps ja Wednesday ways. Tämä on ihana tapa liikkua yhdessä ja saada jokaiseen aamuun erilaista liikettä. Viikon päätimme omalelupäivään jolloin jokainen pääsi esittelemään oman lelunsa vuorotellen ystävilleen. He saivat vapaasti kertoa asioita tuomastaan lelusta ja lopuksi harjoittelimme nimeämään lelun värit englanniksi.
