MAXIS:
Kevät etenee nyt aimo harppauksin – tällä viikolla olemme säästyneet lumipyryiltä ja nauttineet täysin siemauksin, kun aurinko on pistellyt parastaan! Arktiset eläimet ovat saaneet väistyä ja viikon aloitimme askartelemalla maanantaina kauniita ja pirteän keväisiä perhosia, jotka nyt liihottelevat jääkarhujen tilalla narulla katon rajassa Maxien huoneessa.
Tiistaina viskarit tutustuivat englanniksi keväisen luonnon sanastoon (buds, flowers, bees…) kuvien kera, ja lopuksi väritimme kuvat iloisen keväisillä sävyillä. Eskarissa puolestaan käsiteltiin mittoja ja kokoja, sekä opittiin kirjottamaan numero viisi ja laskemaan viiteen. Lopuksi eskarilaiset innostuivat vielä pitämään pienet vapaamuotoiset ex tempore -esitelmät ja esitykset toisilleen!
Keskiviikkona Maxit opettelivat englanniksi ”äiti-eläinten” ja ”vauva-eläinten” eroja ja nimiä. Sekoitimme myös iltapäivän leikeissä lapsiryhmiä, jotta kaikki oppisivat leikkimään kaikkien kanssa ja kaikilla olisi aina kaveri. Keskiviikkona musisoimme myös tuttuun tapaan muskarissa, jossa kevätlaulut raikavat jo iloisesti.
Perinteisen retkipäivämme pidimme tällä viikolla poikkeuksellisesti torstaina, jolloin suuntasimme Herttoniemen kirjastoon Hertsissä. Kirjaston suositussa Satukattila-huoneessa luimme kirjoja, rakentelimme junarataa sekä leikimme ja pompimme jätti-tyynyillä. Jaksoimme taittaa sekä meno- että paluumatkan kirjastoon kävellen. Matkalla tutkailimme myös kevään merkkejä luonnossa: aurinko lämmittää jo mukavasti, linnut visertelevät ja näimmepä myös pääsiäistä enteileviä pehmoisia ja suloisia pajunkissoja.
Viikon päätteeksi iloitsimme lelupäivästä ja aamupiirissä esittelimme toisillemme tuomamme suosikki-lelut. Eskarissa kertasimme kirjaimia ja niiden ääntämistä englanniksi. Yhdistimme kirjaimia niihin liittyviin kuviin ja väritimme kuvat. Viskarit puolestaan harjoittelivat muotoilemaan ja kirjoittamaan numerot 1–10. Tämän jälkeen viskarit saivat laskea lampaita eri kokoisissa laumoissa.
Pitkin viikkoa olemme viritelleet kevät-tunnelmia laulamalla iloista kevätlauluamme Spring Is Here. Tästä on mukava suunnata kohti aurinkoista viikonloppua ja uutta viikkoa!

The weather seems to be getting warmer while weeks are passing by, and spring is just around the corner! On Monday we had a nice spring arts session where children made colourful cherry trees to decorate our lovely room. It was an interesting chat that we had together when they looked at the picture since they were wondering why the tree leaves were pink if the cherries are red. Smart and curious duckies! It was a nice conversation where we made them realize about the difference between the flower and the fruit. On Tuesday we had a sunny walking trip around the area, and we stopped into a small yard to play together. It is always very exciting to be in different places and get to play with different equipment and toys! At the same time the idea to do a picnic and eating ice-cream during summertime came up, so that is for sure a promise that we made to the children! On Wednesday we had the weekly music session where we started to practice some spring songs and children had fun with different games which involved a variety of speed rhythms. The week has finished with a nice one to one special time with each kid to do the VASU interviews for their growth development folder and we got very interesting and funny answers, such as the wish to be a batman or a princess when they are adults! Also, a Friday is not the same without a toy day, so we had a nice circle to show and talk about the different toys, as well as practicing the sharing skills together!
Other activities that we have had this week are reading stories about friendship and emotional skills as well as spending the afternoons mixing the groups with the maxis in order to make them all practice the playing ability together.
