MINIT, MIDIT, VISKARIT AND MESTARI-ANKAT
The week started for the unit by having a science day. The activity consisted in coloring the snow with watercolors. The kids had a great time, being very active and creative while coloring the snow. On thenext day, on Tuesday, the kids enjoyed an on-line Christmas puppet show. In the afternoon, they sang Christmas songs in Muskari, which always create a magical ambience. On Wednesday, the whole unitcelebrated its own Christmas party. The kids came with their best clothes and, of course, the elf hat. In the morning, the kids sang a lot of Christmas songs in small groups, while some of them played different instruments. Besides, we recorded the songs for the parents, so they can listen and watch them afterwards. After the morning party, at the lunchtime, the entire unit ate some traditional Finnish food, sitting all together on a large table as a big family. During this special occasion, everyone had a great time. In the afternoon, the kids wanted to have a disco, to shake their bodies and practice their dance moves. On Thursday, the kids baked the traditional dessert: Joulutorttu. Most of the kids had already baked this at home, and they were excited to cook it in the daycare also. After that, Minis and Midis went on a walking trip, while Viskarit and Eskarit went on a spontaneous trip to Spelttipuisto. There, all the kids were playingtogether as a group, but unfortunately, they could not enjoy the snow anymore. On the last day of the week, the kids had more disco time. This means an exciting moment to dance and have fun together.

Viskarit:
This week, the Viskarit group has been practising color identification through two different activities. The first activity consisted in choosing five colors and draw an object that needed to meet two conditions. First, it had to be an object already present in the room; then, it had to be with the same color as one of the chosen colors. The second activity consisted in drawing objects with different colors. For example, they needed to draw five times a duck changing the color every time. During these exercises they could practicelistening skills, identifying numbers and colors.
Mestari-Ankat:
Tällä viikolla paneuduimme luokitteluun. Ensin harjoittelimme kuvanlukutaitoa. Kuvassa muurahaiset aloittivat villapaitakauden ja olivat alkamassa valtavan kutomisurakan. Mietimme, miten erilaisia lankakeriä voidaan luokitella. Harjoittelimme luokittelua erilaisten esineiden avulla. Mietimme myös kuuluuko jokin lelu/esine ryhmän. Mestari-Ankat tekivät myös omia ryhmittelyjään ja kertoivat miten luokittelivat ryhmänsä. Seikkailujen eskari kirjassa mietittiin mitä yhteistä on asioilla ja mitä eroa asioilla on. Lopuksi teimme ryhmätyön. Mestari-Ankat jaettiin kahteen eri ryhmään. Heidän piti ryhmänä päättää luokitteluperuste ja etsiä sen perusteella lehdistä kuvia. Lopuksi vielä piti keksiä yhdessä ryhmälle nimi. Ryhmiksi tulivat Pentuakatemia sekä nopeuskaverit.
