MINIT

Minis started their week off reading a book, some of them were listening and some of them were playing. We have new minis so we will slowly teach them the art of listening to stories so that next time we can all listen to a story together and enjoy the adventures instore for us from every page of the book. In celebration of the up-coming Independence Day and practicing our fine-motor skills, our Minis hand-painted a Finnish flag this time. Wednesday we had an indoor gym. Our little duckies practiced their gross-motor skills through jumping, crawling, ball-throwing, and a little bit of trying to do some somersault. We had some up-beat music on the background, and everything was fun! Music with Paula is the new talk of our group, Paula was so happy to hear our little duckies screaming for her name and getting all excited just at the sight of her getting out from her car. We sung some familiar songs, danced in circles, and this week we learned about colours while singing. What fun way to enjoy and learn at the same time! Our week ended with our Independence Day celebration. We had our presidential pair, we had a dance ball and danced in pairs and had a disco and danced together! On top of everything fun that we did this week, we also started opening our advent calendar. Each day different child gets to open the calendar, gets to take home the Christmas card of the day and do different activities. We’ve had Christmas song dance party, Christmas-themed colouring pages, watched a short story about Christmas and we’ve got a surprise gift from the elves! Oh, what fun it is to feel that Christmas is just around the corner! Next week we will start doing a more Christmas-themed activities. Enjoy your weekend and have a lovely weekend!

MAXIT

Learning through play has been the theme of our physical education for the last couple of weeks with Juuli guiding us. Tuesday, we had literature day and read a book about Santa bringing gifts to different houses. We talked about our Christmas wish lists, our previous Christmas gifts and some Christmas-story related events that happened to our Maxis as far as their memory is concerned. On Wednesday, we exercised our fine-motor skills through scissor-cutting and gluing; we made our own Independence Day candles. Our Maxis had progressed with their scissor-cutting skills but will still need tons of activities with scissor-cutting to hone it. Paula led our music circle on Thursday, and it was everything fun and joyful! We played instruments, danced in circles, sung a song about numbers, got our funky monkey sticker of the week and lots of fun memories instore in our memory bank in a short period. Muskari is our Maxis favourite and most-awaited part of the week! What better way to end this week than to have a ball? We had a presidential pair that shake hands with the guests, we danced in pairs and danced as a group. This week, we also started opening our advent calendar one day at a time and it there were lots of activities the elves brought to us. We had Christmas song dance party, we watched a short story about Christmas, we had Christmas-themed colouring pages and a secret gift the elves brought. We have had lots of fun and giggles and our new friends are starting to feel comfortable coming to the Duckies. We can’t wait for more interaction with them! We hope you have a lovely weekend and see you on Monkey Monday!
