FUNCTIONAL BILINGUALISM - THE EASY WAY FOR YOUR CHILD TO LEARN THE LANGUAGE!

Ankkalampi kindergartens offer a safe growing and operating environment, where pedagogical teaching takes place in the child’s mother tongue. At the same time children will learn and gain an understanding of functional bilingualism. Functional bilingualism is a model of foreign language acquisition in which a language is adopted by using it in natural contexts and meaningful situations. Functional bilingualism does not mean complete bilingualism, but language is acquired through practical experience. The language to be adopted is not the object of language teaching but it is used as a teaching tool. The aim is to learn the everyday use of another language through instructions and activities (eg play, songs, and rhymes). Improving knowledge of the culture of a foreign language and bringing language groups closer together are also goals.
